The DIT Students’ Union Constitution is a document which sets out how the Students’ Union runs it’s business. It encompasses the structure of the company, democratic structure and elections amongst other items.
A review process was set up by the Students’ Union Governing Council (old name for Student Council) on the 13th October 2011. Following the review, the Constitution below was written and put to the membership of the DIT Students’ Union via referendum, and was passed on the 8th of March 2012. This result was ratified by the DIT Students’ Union Governing Council on the 22nd March 2012, and the Constittion was adopted in full by the DIT Students’ Union on the 26th of June 2012.
A further review process was set up in November 2014 to address administrative issues in the Constitution, and make accommodations for the merger of DIT, IT Blanchardstown and IT Tallaght. The referendum was passed on 13th March 2015, and was be presented to the Student Council meeting on the 22nd April for ratification.
